LA’s rooftop bar inventory is bigger than most cities’ total bar inventory. The complication: not every rooftop with a screen actually programs soccer well, and not every soccer-friendly rooftop has the sightlines or the shade that a watch party actually needs. This list is the venues we’re confident in for the 2026 tournament, plus the cautions you should know before booking.

Method. Rooftop and outdoor venues with established soccer programming (LAFC partner network, Discover LA recommendations) plus venues we’ve cross-verified through multiple LA-side primary sources. We didn’t include any rooftop we couldn’t confirm shows soccer regularly, even if the views are great.

What “rooftop watch party” actually means in LA

Two things to know going in:

Direct sunlight kills outdoor TV viewing. The afternoon LA sun is on most rooftops for the 3:00 p.m. PT slot — which, for the 2026 tournament, is when several matches will kick off. Covered rooftops, west-facing rooftops, or rooftops with retractable shade are the only ones that work for those time slots. South-facing exposed rooftops are gorgeous but useless for a 3 p.m. screen.

The rooftop has to actually have a screen. A surprising number of LA rooftops are described as “great for sports watching” because they have one TV behind the bar that you can sort of see if you’re standing in the right spot. That’s not a watch party. The threshold is: a screen large enough that someone seated 30 feet away can read the score.

The shortlist — not actually rooftops, but actually outdoor

A note before the list. Most of LA’s best outdoor matchday venues aren’t sky-level rooftops at all — they’re patios, gardens, and street-level outdoor rooms inside supporter pubs. We’re including the strongest of those here because they’re what actually works for a 2026 watch party. For the rooftop-rooftops, scroll one section down.

The four anchor outdoor venues — 33 Taps (LAFC partner near Crypto.com Arena), Fox and Hounds (Studio City patio, opens early for major matches), The Greyhound Bar & Grill (Highland Park patio), and Trophy Wife (Silverlake garden) — are covered head-to-head with their indoor identity, opening times, and supporter-club affiliations in the LA soccer bars guide. For an outdoor watch party, the version of each that matters is:

  • 33 Taps has tall front windows that open onto the South Park sidewalk; it’s not a patio in the strict sense but the matchday energy spills outside in a way that feels outdoor when the building is full.
  • Fox and Hounds has a real outdoor patio, and the early-kickoff cool of a Studio City morning makes it functional for 7 a.m.-PT matches even in late June.
  • Greyhound has Highland Park’s reliably cooler microclimate working for it; the patio reads as garden as much as bar.
  • Trophy Wife is the only one of the four built around a garden; it’s the most genuinely “outdoor” experience, even though the matchday energy stays casual.

Use those four as the supporter-pub-with-outdoor-room layer. The next section is the rooftop layer proper.

Hotel rooftops (variable)

LA’s serious rooftop inventory is in hotels — the Hoxton DTLA, Dream Hollywood, the Roosevelt, the Conrad Downtown LA, Hotel Per La (the property formerly operated as the NoMad) — and most of them either run soccer programming on demand or can be booked for private events. For 2026 watch parties on these properties, the right move is to call directly: ask whether they’re running matches, what screen they have, and what the cover or food/beverage minimum is for matchday. Note that the Standard Downtown LA rooftop, long the default name on lists like this, closed permanently in January 2022 — it’s no longer an option even though it’s still in older guides.

The rooftops that consistently program soccer (per Discover LA’s coverage and LAFC partner data):

  • Downtown LA hotel rooftops with skyline views — most have at least one screen on the rooftop, programming is match-by-match
  • West Hollywood / Hollywood rooftops — Sunset Boulevard concentration, more nightlife-coded but several program big matches
  • Beach-adjacent rooftops in Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach — fewer overall but consistent in their programming when they do soccer

For specific rooftops by match, the LA discover map filtered to outdoor venues is the most current list — programming firms up in the 2-3 weeks before each match.

The honest version: rooftops aren’t always the right call

A confession: for most 2026 matches, an indoor supporter pub will be a better watch-party venue than an outdoor rooftop. Reasons:

  • Broadcast audio. Outdoor speakers compete with traffic, wind, and ambient noise. Indoor sound systems beat them every time.
  • Crowd density. A 30-person crowd in a 200-person rooftop feels empty. The same 30 people in a small supporter pub feels packed.
  • Screen quality. Most rooftop screens are middle-grade outdoor displays; supporter pub screens are typically larger, brighter, and better-positioned.

The case for rooftops is specific: matches where atmosphere, view, and post-match dinner are part of the plan. A finals match at a rooftop with a city view and dinner reservations after is a different — and often better — experience than the same match at a packed pub. For group-stage Tuesday afternoons, the pub wins.

How to host one

If you want to host a rooftop watch party for a specific 2026 match, the move is:

  1. Pick the match first. Knockouts or marquee group-stage matches justify the rooftop premium. Random midweek group-stage matches don’t.
  2. Pick the rooftop second. Call the venue, confirm screen + broadcast + cover terms.
  3. List it on Pitch Party. Create the event, set a cap matching the venue capacity, and let the discover map fill the room.

For the right match — say, an LA-relevant USMNT knockout — a rooftop watch party listed publicly on Pitch Party 2-3 weeks ahead will fill itself.

Frequently asked

Quick answers

Are LA rooftop bars actually showing the 2026 tournament?
Some are; many aren't. LA rooftop programming for soccer rotates by match and by venue. Day matches have better rooftop options than night matches because of broadcast lighting on outdoor screens. Pitch Party's discover map filtered to outdoor venues shows which rooftops are confirmed for which matches.
Best LA neighborhood for outdoor / rooftop watch parties?
Downtown LA and West Hollywood concentrate the rooftop inventory. Studio City and Highland Park have outdoor patios at supporter pubs but not 'rooftop' in the skyline sense. Beach-adjacent (Santa Monica, Venice, Manhattan Beach) has decent outdoor options for late-afternoon kickoffs.
Will LA weather actually cooperate during the 2026 tournament?
Late-June and July in LA is reliably warm and sunny — June Gloom can muddy mornings, but afternoon and evening kickoffs land in clean weather. The bigger concern for outdoor screens is direct sun glare on the screen during 3 p.m.-PT kickoffs; covered patios beat exposed rooftops for those slots.
Are there free outdoor watch parties in LA for 2026?
Likely yes — LA Live, Grand Park, and various host-city public viewing events typically run during major tournaments. Specific 2026 schedules will firm up closer to the tournament; Pitch Party's LA city page will list public-viewing events as they're confirmed.
If I want to host a rooftop watch party for a 2026 match, what's the move?
Most LA rooftop venues will rent for private events; pricing scales with venue size and match popularity. List the event publicly on Pitch Party for casual matches and you'll fill the room with the discover map. For high-demand matches, list early — rooftops with screens get booked 6-8 weeks out for opener-day and knockout matches.
